Hyaluronic Acid characteristically is a long, stringy, gel-like disaccharide composed of alternating molecules of glucosamine and glucuronic acid.

Hyaluronic Acid plays an important Fundamental role in both the cartilage matrix and synovial fluid in joints. The unique theological properties of Hyaluronic Acid solutions are responsible for the vis-coelastic behavior of the synovial fluid. Another function of Hyaluronic Acid is related to its role in maintaining the structure of aggrecan.
