'The Nutritional Alternative For Ulcers'

Gastric Ulcers in horses are generally recognised as being caused by stress, feeding concentrated levels of starchy foods, insufficient fibre in their diet, or long periods without feed.

The proper diet for horses should be free access to grazing grass and/or a sufficient amount of good quality hay along with a minimum amount of concentrated starchy food to supply the energy needed for the level of work the horse is doing.

Performance horses are sometimes stabled up to 23 hours a day while being fed large amounts of starchy foods with limited amounts of hay. The stress of confinement, training, competition and a diet low in fibre is believed to be the cause of gastric ulcers in a large percentage of horses.

If a horse has one or more of the following indications, they probably have a degree of ulcers.

  • Loss of Appetite
  • Weight Loss
  • Unthrifty Appearance
  • Bad Stable Vices
  • Bad Attitude
  • Poor Performance
  • Bad BLood Chemistry
  • Blood in Stool
  • Unwilling to Train
  • Ongoind Nervousness

U-GARD had been thoroughly tested and proven to be a nutritional alternative to drugs for treating horses with gastric ulcers. U-GARD is formulated with all natural ingredients. Each ingredient in U-GARD was selected to perform a specific function.

Micro-sized Calcium Carbonate and Aluminium Calcium Silicate, derived from organic diatomaceous earth, are powerful fast acting anti-acids to help lower excessive stomach acids.

Kaolin buffers and coats the horses stomach lining thus helping protect it from further damage caused by excessive stomach acids allowing the body's natural healing process to take place.

Aloe Vera Gel helps soothe and promotes healing of irritated areas of the stomach caused by ulcers.

In order to prevent gastric ulcers, it's highly recommend you feed a minimum maintenance level of U-GARD at the start of the horses training process. Preventing ulcers is more cost effective then treating them plus it eliminates the costly setback factor in their schedule.
